| About the swim season |
- SCSL helps setup club swim practices and runs swim meets (at Gallatin Civic Center) for HS and MS school student swimmers in Sumner County and Division 4 of the MTHSSA
- SCSL is using Swimtopia for registration for the swim season which runs from Mid Sept to the End of Jan (Early Feb for HS State qualifiers)
- Registration, swim practices, and swim meets are open to all MS and HS students (public, magnet, private and homeschool) in Sumner County/Division 4
- Each school has a TEAM MANAGER that helps coordinate the swim club for their school
- SCSL coordinates meet entries for County, Regional, and State swim meets for the school clubs during the swim season

- Last practice/swim date:
- If your HS/MS swimmer does not qualify for Regionals or State, their last swim date will be at the last swim meet on 01/12/2027
- If your HS/MS swimmer qualifies for Regionals and/or State, they can continue practicing at GCC up until Regionals/State

Tues 09/08 OR Wed 09/09 @3:45-4:30pm at Gallatin Civic (210 Albert Gallatin Ave, Gallatin, TN 37066)
- Swimmers only need to come to ONE date
- Please arrive 10-15min earlier to change/stretch to be in the pool promptly at 3:45pm

- Only NEW swimmers need to try out
- Year-round (Club) swimmers and returning swimmers exempt (you can go straight to Registering your swimmer on Sept 1st)
- Register for Tryouts via the homepage
- Forms will be signed while filling out the Tryout registration
- Forms must be signed before stepping on the pool deck

| How do we define Club Team swimmers (year-round swimmers)? |
- Club team swimmers (year-round swimmers) are swimmers who are members of a USA club team such as NAC, Excel, and MTSC.
- Club swimmers practice with their Club and come to swim meets only (they do not come to GCC swim practices)
- Please contact us if there are special circumstances that apply to your swimmer

- Swimmers with scheduling conflicts can request an exception if a Team Manager or Board member verifies their swimming ability.

| What strokes are needed for tryout? |
- The swim team is beginner friendly!
- Swimmers do NOT need to know all 4 strokes (freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke, backstroke) to be on the swim team
- Your swimmer just needs to know a basic freestyle. Most beginner swimmers just choose to do freestyle at their first meets.
- Your swimmer does not need to know how to do dives or flip turns (but they will learn them during swim practice!)

$150 for club swimmers (MTSC, Excel, NAC) - only attending meets

$250 for non-club swimmers - attending practice at Gallatin Civic Center
- Swim fees are the same as last year

Fees cover: lane rental for GCC, technology/meet management, taxes, insurance, swimmer t-shirt and swim cap, senior banners, jacket embroidery, coach salaries, regional/state fees, and supply/admin fees

- Fees will be paid when registering in Swimtopia (please note: a small credit card fee will apply to help save the league $1,000 in CC fees)
- Please ensure that you can get your child to swim practices @ GCC before Registering; There is a $20 admin fee for cancellations/refunds before 09/20/2026. There will be no refunds given for cancellations after 09/20/2026.

| Can my club swimmer practice @ GCC? |
- YES, however, you will be required to pay the additional training fee for the season regardless of how many practices are attended.
- When you register please choose the Gallatin Civic Center as their training option, NOT their club team.

| Homeschool swimmers |
- Home school swimmers may 1) swim for their zoned school if it has a team, 2) swim “unattached” if their school does not have a team, or 3) swim as a homeschool group.

| Is swimming a school sport? |
- Yes and no. Swimming is not governed by TSSAA therefore some schools recognize swimming as a "club" rather than a school sport.
- Swimming is governed by Middle Tennessee High School Swim Association (MTHSSA), Tennessee Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (TISCA), and the National Federation of High School Sports (NFHS). Some swim meets are sanctioned by USA Swimming and/or Southeastern Swimming.
- SCSL & your schools do not receive funding from MNPS because swimming is not considered a varsity school sport in MNPS.
